Travel Fit: Mastering Bodyweight Workouts

Whether you’re constantly on the road for work or off on a MOJO adventure, finding the time and space for traditional gym workouts can be difficult. What’s the best way to stay fit while away? John Peel, the founder of John Peel Fitness and a MOJO Insider Influencer, says bodyweight workouts are your best friend. They require minimal to no equipment, can be done virtually anywhere, and are incredibly effective at keeping your muscles engaged and your heart pumping.

Who better to share tips than Peel, who is always on the move – traveling with MOJO and filming fitness videos on location around the world. John is a former Division 1 NCAA football player from the University of Utah and a Master iFIT trainer. His passion for athletics makes his workouts fun, fast-paced and memorable for when you need them most.

“As a frequent traveler myself, I understand the challenges of staying fit on the road. Bodyweight workouts are the perfect solution, requiring minimal equipment and offering maximum results. By mastering these exercises and incorporating them into your routine, you can stay in shape no matter where your adventures take you.”

John is giving our MOJO community access to two bodyweight workout videos to pack on your next getaway. You can download them HERE. And, when you adventure with us on any 2024 Insiders Adventures Peel preps every trip with a library of workouts tailored for each location. French Alps, Colorado Springs, or Dominican Republic anyone?

Five things you need to know to get moving:

  1. Start with the Basics: Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast or a beginner, it’s essential to start with basic bodyweight exercises. Squats, push-ups, lunges, and planks are fantastic exercises that target multiple muscle groups and require little to no equipment. They form the foundation of any bodyweight workout routine and can be easily modified to suit your fitness level.
  2. Create a Routine: Consistency is key when it comes to staying in shape while traveling. Schedule your workouts like you would any other appointment and stick to them. Whether it’s early morning, during a lunch break, or in the evening, find a time that works best for you and commit to it.
  3. Utilize Your Surroundings: One of the great things about bodyweight workouts is that you can use your surroundings to add variety to your routine. Stuck in an airport? John even has a few suggestions in this short video. Get creative and make the most out of your environment!
  4. Stay Motivated: It’s easy to lose motivation when you’re away from home but set goals for yourself. And don’t forget to reward yourself for staying committed to your fitness goals, whether it’s with a healthy meal or a relaxing massage.
  5. Listen to Your Body: Lastly, listen to your body and give it the rest and recovery it needs. Traveling can be exhausting, so make sure to prioritize sleep, hydration, and nutrition to support your workouts.
