One client’s journey with MOJO Adventures

Read her first-hand account

Karen Wolter has been on many of MOJO Adventures’ Girl Getaways since the beginning. Her annual adventures began in 2015 when she was invited to go on a group trip to Puerto Rico with her long-time friend, Tara, and 10 other women. At the end of the getaway, she came back feeling exhilarated – with new friends and amazing stories to tell.

Karen talks about her Puerto Rico ‘MOJO moment’ that still impacts her today. The group embarked on a day trip to Angeles Cave, part of the famous Rio Camuy System near San Juan where they used zip lines and rappelled into the mouth of a cave for a 3-hour underground adventure. “It was a rollercoaster of emotions that I went through. From emotional, physical and spiritual because you don’t normally hop out of your comfort zone to this extent. It was a personal, yet shared experience. You really felt that you earned the rest of the trip after that!” says Karen.

As a result of this ‘MOJO moment’ Karen loves trying new things and frequently seeks new kinds of adventures. Now, with the evolution of MOJO Adventures, these adventures also include her husband.

RISING TO MEET THE CHALLENGES IN 2021

When COVID-19 closed down the world, traveling in groups went by the wayside and most planned vacations were postponed. As we all quarantined with our families, we dreamed of the day when we could travel again. As things began to open back up, family trips and small group travel was back on the books and MOJO adapted.

“Working closely with our trusted travel partners on the ground, as destinations began opening back up, we began booking new adventures for families who were in already in quarantine together,” says Molly Mathis, CEO. “We even created some amazing, curated ‘stay at home’ experiences for clients and kept close watch on the ever-changing guidelines, guiding clients where to go and how to do it safely.”

With five girl trips under her belt, Karen contacted Molly, entrusting her to put together an adventure for her and her husband. They recently traveled to Zion National Park in Utah, where Molly and her team put together a trip they will never forget. “It was the perfect mix between outdoor adventures and a luxury experience. One day we went hiking in The Narrows of Zion and the next, we had a spa day.”

She talks about the benefits of booking with MOJO Adventures over a typical travel company. “Molly meets with customers personally to customize the adventure of your dreams. You are completely catered to because you don’t have to do anything or make any decisions. You are truly on vacation.”

During the trip, there is an app that’s constantly updated from what to wear the next day to potential flight or itinerary schedule changes. “No muss, no fuss, no worries about anything,” says Karen of her experience. Mojo Active Adventures finds great adventures you normally wouldn’t know about that are definitely not in your common tourist areas.

What’s a MOJO Moment? In one word – unforgettable! A ‘Mojo Moment’ is a surprise that Molly and her team take great care and pride in planning. Some of Karen’s favorite ‘MOJO Moments’ include a cave dinner with live music in Iceland, a private dinner for two in Zion and an extreme adventure in the caves of Puerto Rico.

“We plan adventures for people who value experiences and simply want to show up, knowing all details have been handled, whether that’s families, groups of girls, guys, couples or work associates,” says Molly Mathis.
